I have the honour in accordance with Colonial
Regulation 281, to request your covering authority for the expenditure of the sum of $25,531 to supplement Head 28 (Miscellaneous Services), sub-head 47, shown on page 89 of
the Estimates for 1934.

The amount provided for Transport of Govern-
ment Servants was $450,000, but this has proved to be an
underestimate, due to the impossibility of forecasting with
complete accuracy the number of officers and their families
entitled to passages in any particular year. The actual figures of expenditure on this service for 1934 and the two
preceding years are:

so that there has actually been a decrease accounted for partly
by the higher exchange rate.

The additional expenditure was recommended
by the Finance Committee on 4th April, 1935, (Message No.7 of
1935, item 158 of 1934) and its adoption by the Legislative
